High levels of on-site commitments to attend next year’s event and scores of high-quality sponsor leads show just how valuable the event is.
From May 8-10, Foxwoods Resort Casino hosted the first ever TecHomeX East, bringing together decision-makers from the top design/build and integration/contracting companies in the Northeast for 2.5 days of best practice-sharing, networking and vendor engagement.
In total, 100 guests attending, including 49 integrators, 30 luxury builders and 21 high-volume builders representing 81 unique companies. They took part in a content program featuring TecHome industry leaders and topics, meetings with top tech vendors and networking opportunities with trade partners.
Whether the attendees were relatively new to tech and just planning their strategies or were more well-versed and looking to take their next steps and find new business allies, there was value for everyone.
“As a builder just entering into the echelon of projects where my buyers are looking for smart home, high tech solutions, I needed to familiarize myself with a wide range of products,” says HarperELM owner Ian Harper. “So, being in a space with a lot of different vendors and manufacturers, I was able to touch on a lot of different points and raise my familiarity and competency in a lot of different areas, so I can be a useful advisor and collaborator with my clients and my architects that I’m working with to determine what the best solutions are for an individual project. So, in that sense, it’s been very fruitful, just understanding what’s available, what’s possible and how to present it to the homeowners and how to develop those projects.”
“I like the scale and the scope that you guys put in in this event,” adds Tech Superpowers CEO Bacem Moussa. “I’ve had some pleasant surprises and some vendors I would not have met otherwise, and also I reconnected with some other vendors that I had known before, but in larger events it was harder to have the time to communicate with them the way we did this time.”
The proof of success for this regional concept was found in on-site renewals of the guests. Seventy attendees committed to attending TecHomeX East 2019 before even leaving Foxwoods. That 70 percent renewal rate is far and away the highest ever for an AE Ventures-produced event.
Sponsoring companies found similar value. Some vendors closed deals on-site, while all at least were able to leave with high-quality leads. It’s clear evidence that the format of guaranteed meetings with high-quality guests is worth the investment.
“It was very interesting,” says Loxone North American sales director Mark Skazenski. “You guys do things a lot different, which is good because Loxone is notorious for refusing all exhibition events. So, this is the first one we’ve actually done here in America at this scale, and it went very well. Getting the meetings pre-qualified was very good… We’re looking forward to the next one.”
“What we’ve learned with this show is about the partnerships throughout the ecosystem,” explains Deako CRO Wes Nicol. “We’ve met a lot of really interesting potential partners that will help us remove these barriers working with integrators and access new markets we haven’t been in before.”
TecHomeX East 2019 will expand on what has been proven to be a successful model. That event will be held May 14-16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. and will host guests from states east of the Mississippi.
