Hosted guests and sponsoring companies capitalize on their experience at California’s only event for the entire TecHome ecosystem.
For the second year, California’s top builders, designers, integrators and contractors came together for 2.5 days of best-practice sharing, networking and vendor engagement, this time at the Pasadena Convention Center.
This year’s event featured 125 decision-makers from companies across California and 74 vendor companies showcasing some of the best home tech offerings available today.
All guests and executive-pass-holding sponsor representatives enjoyed five informative and thought-provoking general sessions on topics like smart energy and water efficiency options, design center tech, improving TecHome customer experience and a roundtable focused on top room-by-room tech options. It all was highlighted by an eye-opening keynote from Silicon Valley integrator Rich Green on future technologies.
With the educational content, sponsor meetings and networking opportunities, guests found the experience extremely valuable.
“It’s a really great format,” says Simply Sight & Sound president Jeff Cooper. “I’d highly recommend it. You’re going to meet vendors you didn’t know existed, learn about technology you didn’t know existed and it’s a great way to meet new people. The mixture of designers, builders, installers and manufacturers in such a quaint environment is perfect.”
“The event was great. I’m excited to come back next year and will bring some other people from my company,” says Shea Homes national purchasing specialist Allison Warrell. “I did bring two low-voltage integrators with me and they took a lot out of this, and they were very excited to be here. I also wish I would have brought an electrician and a design studio manager or design studio designer so they could see and touch some of the products here and get an understanding of how they’re evolving and how they’re changing so fast.”
For vendors, their investment in the event meant they would have scheduled meetings with guests of their choosing. Sponsoring companies had opportunities for general session sponsorships, boardroom presentations and one-on-one meetings, each of which guaranteed the ability for them to inform the guests about their company, whether they preferred speaking to a large group, smaller groups or individuals.
“We’ve had a good time here. We’ve enjoyed it,” says Mivatek CEO Joe Liu. “This is the first year we’ve attended the event and we have met a lot of interesting people. We’ve had probably over 100 make an appointment or stop by our booth. So, the result has been pretty good.”
“We did two boardroom presentations and those were extremely beneficial,” adds Christian Weber, the director of Kidde Safety’s residential vertical markets team. “At the other shows we’ve been to, we didn’t have that opportunity. To be able to spend 35-minutes with anywhere from 15 to 25 builders and architects and have open dialogue is just a tremendous opportunity for us. So, we’ve gotten a lot of opportunity and leads from that, as well.”
After two successful years of TecHomeX focusing solely on the California market, it will evolve next year to create an even bigger and better TecHomeX West, featuring the best builders, architects, designers, integrators and contractors from west of the Mississippi River.
TecHomeX West will be held March 19-21, 2019 at the Pasadena Convention Center. To apply to attend, contact AE Ventures guest recruitment manager Leigh Fishback at email@example.com.
