During the general content sessions at TecHomeX California, experts from across the technology spectrum will educate attendees on a variety of topics.

During the 2.5 days of TecHomeX California at the Pasadena Convention Center, guests will be treated to a keynote presentation, roundtable workshop and general content sessions designed to help them identify and leverage opportunities for success in home technology and inspire all to move forward to capture their share of this fast-growing market.

Mitchell Klein – Executive Director, Z-Wave Alliance

Mitchell is the executive director of the Z-Wave Alliance, a rapidly growing technology alliance focused on the smart home/IoT. Prior to this role, Mitchell was the director of business development for Universal Remote Control, the CEO at the award-winning integration firm Media Systems for 14 years and co-founded industry consulting firm StayTuned LLC. Mitchell is a former CEDIA President and CEDIA Fellow, currently a committee chair, and has been a featured columnist in a variety of publications, a regular guest on AV Nation’s Resiweek video podcasts and a speaker at numerous IoT events worldwide. Presenting: Room-By-Room Tech Roundtable Challenge.

Rich Green – Owner, Rich Green Design

Rich Green has been active in the AV design and installation industry since 1978. His system-integration company, Rich Green Design, serves the ambitious homeowners and businesses of Silicon Valley. His clients have included Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison, Jim Clark, Gordon Getty, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Luciano Pavarotti. Rich sits on the Advisory Board of CEDIA, where he served as a three-term board member and founded the CEDIA Technology Council. Rich travels the world as an instructor, consultant and public speaker in the fields of Future Technologies and Design. Brandon Savage – Principal, The CX Pro

Brandon Savage is the principal at The CX Pro, a customer experience consultancy. He has filled various operations and customer experience roles within the electronic industry, including LiveWatch, My Alarm Center, Devcon Security, Vivint, Bay Alarm, Firstline Security, and SafeHome Security. He has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and resides with his wife, Cheryl, and seven children in Manhattan… Kansas (The LITTLE Apple!). Presenting: Visioning the TecHome Customer Experience.

Jacob Atalla – VP of Sustainability Initiatives, KB Home

Jacob Atalla is the vice president of sustainability initiatives at KB Home. He leads the way in realizing KB’s sustainability goals of making every home it builds more environmentally friendly, and all aspects of its construction and business operations increasingly sustainable. Educated as an architect, Jacob has over 25 years of technology and green building experience, which form the foundation of his creative solutions for building energy- and water-efficient homes. Jacob serves on the board of directors of Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), and Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA), and he also serves on the technical committee for Leading Builders of America, and chairs the Urban Land Institute’s Orange County/Inland Empire Sustainable Communities Initiative Council. Jim Carroll – CEO, Connected Home Advisory

Jim works in an advisory role, providing consultive services to executive management teams in the space of the connected home, smart house and home automation. His key areas of focus are working with companies at all stages of growth with business strategies and technology in the connected home and home automation space. He has an extensive history of successes in orchestrating the start-up, growth and success of diverse, technology-driven businesses within the connected home, consumer electronics and telecommunications industries. Rajit Gadh, PhD – Professor & Director, UCLA Smart Grid Energy Research Center

Dr. Rajit Gadh is Professor of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at UCLA, Founder and Director the Smart Grid Energy Research Center or SMERC and Founder and Director of the UCLA WINMEC Consortium. Dr. Gadh’s current research interests include modeling and control of Smart Grids, Electric Vehicle to Grid Integration, Vehicle to Grid (V2G), Autonomous Electric Vehicles, Demand Response, Microgrids, Energy Storage in the Grid, Renewable Integration, Internet of Things, Wireless/RFID. Dr. Gadh is author of over 200 articles in journals and conference proceedings and 4 patents. His team has developed the WINSmartEV™ and WINSmartGrid™ research platforms at UCLA. Presenting: Energy, Water and the California Smart Home.

Gordon van Zuiden – President, cyberManor

Gordon van Zuiden is the founder and president of cyberManor, a full-service home technology integrator headquartered in California’s Silicon Valley. cyberManor’s mission is to design, install and integrate Internet-empowered home networking solutions that enhance the entertainment, communications and comfort of their clients’ homes. Gordon served six years on CEDIA’s Board of Directors and three years as the co-dean of CEDIA’s Electronic Systems Design Track. Presenting: Energy, Water and the California Smart Home.

Tim Costello – President/CEO, BDX

Tim Costello is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive of Builder Homesite Inc. (BHI) the homebuilding industry’s consortium which includes nearly 1,000 builders throughout the U.S., BHI was created to assist homebuilders with the digital transformation of the industry’s customer experience. Tim also serves as Chairman and Chief Executive for several subsidiary companies including BDX (Builders Digital Experience) and NHT (New Home Technology). Beyond BHI, Tim has served on a variety of boards for both startup enterprises and nonprofits. Presenting: The Design Center as Fulcrum for TecHome Sales and Implementation.

Marshall Pepperman – President/Owner, Marshall’s Design

Marshall Pepperman is President and Owner of Marshall’s Design, Inc. which is a full service builder design center with a 35 year history. In 1991 Marshall narrowed his unique “Marketing-focused” Builder Home-Center concept to enhance the Home Buyer experience while resolving needs in the building industry. Marshall’s Design became the first and only Builder Home-Center to be recognized by the BIA for its marketing programs and was awarded an Elan Award for Marketing in 1992. Marshall’s Design, Inc. has provided Home-Center Services for many of the largest and most prestigious builders in Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Ken Walker – Artistic Director, Artisan Electronics Group

Ken Walker is the founder and artistic director of Artisan Electronics Group, a Chicago-based electronics integrator. In 2016, the company opened AEG at theMART, the first ever electronics experience center in the famed Merchandise Mart, for which it won First Place in ASID Illinois’ Annual Design Competition in the category of “Innovation is Design and Technology.” Presenting: The Design Center as Fulcrum for TecHome Sales and Implementation.
